A Squash A Day

This past weekend I visited Hunter Orchards, a local, family-owned-and-operated organic orchard. One of the most memorable school field trips for local children is the visit to Hunter Orchards’ pumpkin patch, where children can select their own pumpkin right out of the patch. I took a trip to Hunter Orchards with friends last year and again this year, and it looks like it’s becoming something of a tradition. Last year, I bought a Rouge Vif d’Etampes pumpkin of modest size; this year’s is a monster. But that’s another post . . .

I took quite a few pictures this autumn, and I’m getting better at using my camera. As it turns out, I have enough good ones for a photo each day for the rest of October. So please come back every day for the rest of the month for your daily squash fix (you know you need one!)

A wealth of pumpkins.

A wealth of pumpkins.

That’s a fantastic photo. It looks like on of the pumpkins on the right is floating! I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos this month :)

The funny thing about that floating pumpkin is that it ended up in a lot of pictures and it looked like it was floating in every one. It must have been just barely stuck in there.
